FIBC (Big Bag) Production Process

General characteristics of big bag production process

General characteristics of big bag production process (equipment, raw materials, products, additives)

Neftekhim produces woven polypropylene flexible intermediate bulk container – big bags.

Big bag is a durable, easy and convenient to use, economical and popular type of packaging. This is determined by the characteristics of polypropylene used for the base:

– mechanical strength and resistance to bending and abrasion;

– low vapor and gas permeability;

– environmental friendliness;

– temperature resistance from -70 to +100°C;

– resistance to boiling water, alkalis, petroleum products;

– insolubility in organic solvents;

– increased color stability.

A big bag is a very strong woven polypropylene sack that is not susceptible to rough handling and can withstand high bulk weights. The strength of big bags is its distinguishing feature. The material is woven from stretched tapes that make the bag resistant to bumps, drops, compressions and folds. Even when hung on a hook or pierced with a nail, the bag does not tear and continues to retain its contents. The bag is resistant to water and moisture, maintaining its strength in all conditions even when lying on wet ground in the rain or in the air in high humidity. It is very convenient for filling on a conventional rotary automatic filling machine, storage and transportation.

Big bag production process consists of 5 main steps:

– tape production with an extrusion line

– fabric forming with Advantex circular weaving machines

– blank production for the big bag body

– finished product sewing and handle shaping

– big bag printing

Logo printing at the customer’s request.

All finished big bags, with or without printing, are fed to a hydraulic press which is specially designed to pack 500-1000 bags depending on its size and material parameters. After that reduced volume of material is tied with plastic straps. The finished bales are transported to the warehouse. Pressing allows to significantly reduce the overall dimensions of the bag packaging which is very important in warehouse, transportation and handling operations.
